Kene Izuchukwu
Ph.D. Student
Kene is the founder of Chukwu L.L.C. He is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA, and is the Academic Director for the West Coast School of Missions (WCSM) in San Diego, CA. From 2017 -2022, he served first as a Youth and Family Minister, second as a College Minister, and lastly as the Associate Minister for the Westside Church in Los Angeles, CA. His primary responsibilities were to oversee the young professional and college (UCLA, Pepperdine, LMU, and SMC) ministries.
Since 2004, Kene has grown up in West Los Angeles. He previously lived in Buffalo, New York, and Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Palisades Charter High School in 2010 and earned a B.A. in Political Science from UCLA in 2013. At UCLA, he competed as an outside hitter on the Division 1 Men's Volleyball Team. He went on to earn a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health and a Master of Public Policy (M.P.P.) at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs in 2016.
After graduation, Kene went to Birmingham, England, to serve on the mission field. While on the mission, he was convicted by the lack of adequate and contextualized spiritual care provided to the millennial & gen z demographic. He decided to change course to pursue a career in ministry that would integrate what he learned from his M.P.H. and M.P.P. degrees. After about a year in England, Kene enrolled in a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) program at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA, and graduated in 2020. Since then he has completed three units of Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E.) with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is serving as a Chaplain in the US Air Force.
Kene has three siblings and was raised by Nigerian (Igbo) immigrants. He loves playing beach volleyball, football, and basketball. He also enjoys hiking, reading, board games, ping pong, corn-hole, and watching movies.
